GULF COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, those who want to go scalloping in St. Joseph Bay have to wait just a little longer.
FWC officials say the season will be postponed until scallop samples test safe for people to eat after a naturally occurring algae bloom.
Also, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services has issued a closure for the harvest of all clams (including pen shells), mussels and oysters in St. Joseph Bay.
