Legion Fish/Fry BBQ Chicken Dinner. The Willis V. Rowan American Legion Post 116 will host its annual Fish Fry/Chicken BBQ on Good Friday, April 19 at the Centennial Building Park area (rain or shine) beginning at 11 ET until the food runs out. Cost of a plate is $8 which includes fish or chicken with several sides and a beverage. Proceeds will benefit local charities.

Kiwanis Club annual pancake breakfast. The Kiwanis Club of Port St. Joe will host its annual Pancake Breakfast fundraiser 7-10 a.m. Saturday at the Brick Wall, 414 Reid Ave. Dine in or take out. For $5 all you can eat pancakes, sausage, milk, juice and coffee. Proceeds support the Kiwanis Club’s work in the community.

JSL Easter Egg Hunt. The annual Junior Service League community Easter Egg Hunt will be held 10 a.m. ET Saturday below the Cape San Blas Lighthouse at George Core Park in Port St. Joe.

This is a free community event and kids 11-and-under are encouraged to bring their Easter baskets to the hunt for eggs.

There will also be face painting and, of course, a visit by the Easter Bunny.

Wewahitchka Woman’s Club Easter Egg Hunt. The GFWC Wewahitchka Woman’s Club will host its third annual Easter Egg Hunt Saturday at Lake Alice Park in Wewahitchka. Basket registration begins at 10 a.m. CT. The hunt will take place 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. CT. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

Visit Farmers Market (and Project HOPE) Saturday. The Port St. Joe SaltAir Farmers Market, now in its 12th year, returns Saturday to City Commons Park adjacent to Port St. Joe City Hall, at the intersection of Reid Ave. and Cecil G. Costin, Sr. Blvd. The market is held 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. ET the first and third Saturdays of every month. At the market you may find fresh seasonal produce, jewelry, tie dye, carved woodwork and much more.

The Market will host Project Hope at the upcoming market. Project Hope is a crisis counseling program sponsored by Life Management Center of Northwest Florida, Inc.; FEMA; SAMSHA; the state of Florida, Department of Children and Families and Big Bend Community Based Care. The lighthouse and gift shop are open 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. ET Wednesday through Saturday.

Venture to the top of the lighthouse, nearly 100 feet high, and check out one of the best views around.

The cost to climb is $5. Children under 12, but at least 44-inches tall, may climb for $3.

No flip-flops, sturdy shoes needed to climb.
