TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission met for a February meeting to discuss the future of the scallop season.

Beginning in 2021, the long-term bay scallop season in Gulf County and St. Joseph Bay will begin on Aug. 16 and run through Sept. 24.

The 2020 season was set late last year after working with the local community. This season’s dates are also Aug. 16 through Sept. 24.

FWC will continue to monitor the status and wellbeing of bay scallops, and they believe the length of the season evenly balances community desires with sustainability measures.
