In the coming months, members of the Airbnb community will once again come together to share their passion for new travel adventures. According to a recent poll, more than nine out of ten active Airbnb guests plan to take a vacation this summer.

However, most people will not be traveling alone this summer; instead, they expect to be joined by their family members. Most Airbnb guests said ‘adventure’ when asked why they might use the service this summer. In addition, nearly all of the people surveyed said they have some degree of leeway in choosing their travel dates, at least occasionally.

In Florida

According to the state’s economic forecast, hosts in Florida’s rural counties made over $100 million in 2021.

Six of the top 10 most popular summer destinations on Airbnb in the United States (by US guests in Q1 2022) are in Florida:

  1. Walton County, Florida
  2. Cape San Blas, Florida
  3. Mexico Beach, Florida
  4. Fort Myers, Florida
  5. Stonington, Connecticut
  6. Cape Coral, Florida
  7. Forks, Washington
  8. Big Sur, California
  9. Four Corners, Florida
  10. Hampton Bays, New York

Since our founding, the Airbnb platform has helped cities use existing space to scale accommodations and absorb influxes of visitors, all while creating important economic opportunities for Hosts and local small businesses,” said Haven Thorn, a spokesperson for Airbnb. “This includes extending those opportunities to neighborhoods that are outside of the main lodging locations and have not traditionally benefited from the tourism economy, such as the Miami Gardens community where Hard Rock Stadium is located.”

Summer Trends

First quarter 2022 Summer Stays Bookings: Domestic travel is strong, accounting for more than half of all summer stay bookings and exceeding the Q1 2019 levels.
